NEW GENERATION COAST GUARD BOAT DELIVERED TO THE NORWEGIAN ARMED FORCES

Aalesund, October 2025 – Maritime Partner has delivered the first Sjøbjørn 38 patrol boat to the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) and the Norwegian Coast Guard. The vessel will be stationed on board KV Njord, marking the start of a new chapter in the modernization of the Coast Guard’s light craft fleet.

Modern, robust and sustainable

Developed in close cooperation with NDMA, the Sjøbjørn 38 introduces a new generation of patrol and patrol boats for maritime operations. Constructed from recycled aluminium, the vessel offers high strength, low weight, and long servicelife, while reducing overall environmental impact.
The delivery reflects Maritime Partner’s ongoing commitment to providing modern, robust and environmentally responsible vessels for demanding operational environments.

Expanding a proven concept

Building on the proven design heritage of the Sjøbjørn 23 and Sjøbjørn 25,the new model is larger, faster, and more flexible. It is designed to meet the Coast Guard’s broad range of missions, from inspection and control to search and rescue operations, and integrates with existing Nornen-class vessels.

Strong Norwegian cooperation

The delivery to KV Njord is the first of five Sjøbjørn 38 boats ordered for the Coast Guard. The project demonstrates the value of close collaboration between Norwegian industry and the defence sector, resulting in a vessel that enhances operational flexibility, safety, and mission capability.
