MARITIME PARTNER DELIVERES TWO NEW SJØBJØRN 38 VESSELS TO THE COAST GUARD

March 9, 2026

Aalesund, 9 March 2026 – Maritime Partner has delivered the patrol boats Sjøbjørn 38 HPB2 and HPB3 to the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) and the Norwegian Coast Guard.

The vessels are the second and third units in a five-boat contract for the new Sjøbjørn 38 series, supporting the ongoing modernization of the Coast Guard’s light craft capability.

Developed in close cooperation with the NDMA, the Sjøbjørn 38 is a new-generation patrol boat designed to meet the Coast Guard’s operational requirements along the Norwegian coastline and in northern waters. The hull is built in recycled aluminium, combining low weight, high strength, long service life, and a reduced environmental footprint.

The design builds on operational experience from the Sjøbjørn 23 and Sjøbjørn 25, delivering a larger and more capable platform. The result is a fast and flexible patrol boat suited for a wide range of missions, including inspection, law enforcement, and search and rescue. The vessels are also developed for seamless interoperability with the Coast Guard’s Nornen-class ships.

The delivery of HPB2 and HPB3 highlights the importance of close cooperation between the Norwegian maritime industry and the defence sector. With more than 2,300 high-speed vessels delivered worldwide, Maritime Partner continues to strengthen its position as a supplier of advanced patrol boats for defence and NATO markets.
